A former papal residence dating from the 14thᵉ century and a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Palais des Papes is the largest medieval building in Europe. At 15,000 m², its volume is equivalent to that of four Gothic cathedrals. It contains more than twenty-five remarkable rooms, including the Pope's private flats and the sumptuous frescoes created by Italian artist Matteo Giovannetti.
